Being Me

OK, my brain's working now. I was talking to someone last night about how we hide ourselves from the world and put on a front, what we think people want to see.

Over the last 18 months I've been learning what it is to "be me". It's been a journey of healing and growth. For so long I'd presented myself as something else, for fear of being rejected.
It's like ever since we were kids we've been told to "try to fit in" and "be like everyone else", What we fail to see is that the more we are who God created us, the more attractive we are to other people.
People can spot a fake a mile away, and yet almost all of us live in this state of delusion that we're fooling everyone. What a load of garbage. God didn't make an Annette Binks so she could try to be a Paris Hilton (not that I'd EVER give that one a try) He made me to be me. If I try to be something I am not, I detract from the glory of His masterpiece.

The more I am me, the more I shine God. When people see the real me, they can see God shining through me. I'd have to thank Karlee for showing me this. She's the most real person I know, and when I look at her I see God. It's breathtaking.

I've seen the practical effects of "being me" too. I've never felt more loved and accepted by my church family, and TAFE friends, and randoms as I do now, and I am more "me" now than I have ever been. People can't help but love you when you show them God's handiwork.

God's the biggest genius there ever was, so if He says it's good I'm pretty sure it's good.

Let your God shine.

Andrew's got one too

Yes, it's official, Andrew wants to be just like me. Now he has his own blog too. You guys should read it though coz he's sure to say something profound.

When I woke up this morning I felt terrible so I wagged TAFE, very naughty I know.

Wednesdays are my quiet day. My brain is quiet too so I have nothing to say really. I'll just give Saltbush a bit of a plug then. For anyone who doesn't already know I'm on the organizing team for Saltbush 05. Here's the poster, Andrew's debut as a poster boy. You should all come, it's gonna be rad.

Thanks to the wonderful Nahum Hendricks for the design.

Today is Tuesday

Well I have about 30 minutes before I leave to go teach at Esther House. Today's been busy. I had a job interview, morning tea with my Dad (which was nice) and went to TAFE. Now I go teach, then rehearsal at Riverview, then rehearsal at The Place, then sleep. Mmmm sleep.

I've been reading peoples blogs and I'm seeing maturity. Christ-centred maturity, and I like it. It's encouraging to see that people are hungry for more than what previous generations have seen.

I'm so proud of our Youth and Young Adults, you guys inspire me. I love how we've become a family. It's so good to rock up on a Friday or Sunday and feel the unity. You're all so...
think of things that are good and insert them here.

A Day of Rest

Andrew proving you can take a shot of yourself with our camera.

I had the great pleasure of not
leaving the house today. I woke up just before 2pm and spent the day veg'n'. Aaaahhhh, yes, it was very good.

Tomorrow is my computer free day, I have one every Sunday, kinda like a computer "sabbath". I instituted it after almost driving myself nutso earlier this year doing Saltbush stuff. It's really hard to remember to take a break from working on stuff if the computer's on, so I decided to just leave it off. I have to admit I have cheated a couple of times-when I'd left something to the last minute and needed it for church Sunday night, but generally I've been good. It has definitely helped me stay balanced.

Church Together is on tomorrow night. Yay. Hope the weather's good.

Then life returns to it's usual controlled chaos. Studying, rehearsals, teaching, job interview, recording, sleeping and of course having fun. Bring it on.

Here's some more piccies from r^se too.

Our Awesome Dance Team

Next Gen Worship

r^se: the end

Well, r^se is over for another year. Money well spent I say.

More than anything I have been encouraged by this r^se. The very spirit of the conference was God desiring and God honouring. The love for God and humanity was so prominent as each speaker shared their hearts.

I am encouraged and inspired to keep on loving, we do not labour in vain. The time is coming when we will see the fruit of all our efforts, the times we kept on going when we didn't think we could anymore. Prepare for the harvest!

I wait in great anticipation to see what God has for us next.

My prayer at the moment is that God would continue that which He has started in Philip's heart, and that Phil and his family would be blessed beyond their wildest dreams as they seek God and love people.

That's my heart. Seek God, Love People.
That is Kindom Come.

r^se: day two

I thought I was tired yesterday. Hmmm, anyway.

There was too much on today to comment on anything but it was great.

Here's some pics of lunchtime, with the cool kids.

r^se day one: part two

Well the first day of r^se is over and I am majorly tired. I don't even want to think what it's going to be like at the end of Friday.

I must say good work to Serg in his pulpit placement and removal role-very professional.

R^se this year is named "pause-rest stop" and I think we're kind of asking ourselves "where are we going?". The overwhelming theme so far is "impacting our communtiy", so far every speaker has talked about it.

Maybe God's trying to say something?

r^se: day one

This morning Ian Woods and Alan Meyer spoke in sessions one and two. I loved how real Ian is, he didn't try to look good or say what people wanted to hear-he was just himself. I always love when people are like that.

What I really got out of this morning was a deeper sense that we should be getting out into our community more. At Riverview we have great community based programs, but most of the congregation do not participate directly in giving something to our community.

I am so blessed to be free, and I want to share that around. I want to take the amazing experience it is to be blessed and accepted to my community. I know I already do it to some extent, but I know there is more, I can bless people more.

Go bless someone.

P.S. Andrew says my font needs to be more purple so this is it, just for him.

Yeah this is me Posted by Picasa

My Debut

First of all, howdy to anyone whose actually bothering to read my blog. This is my first blog ever. I never thought I'd have one but then it just randomly struck my fancy, so hey, why not.

I must say I have been particularly inspired to get a blog since reading Nahum and Meg's. You guys are champs, so maybe if I get a blog I'll be more like you.

R^se starts tomorrow and I'm super pumped. Can't wait to see what God's got planned. I get the feeling that we are about to launch into a new season, and it's about flippin' time.

I'll keep you posted on how it all goes as I'm sure you'll just go completely crazy if I don't.
